The moment you need to use your insurance is often the most stressful time in your life. Whether it's a health emergency, a car accident, or a life event, the last thing you want to deal with is a complicated claims process. This guide walks you through exactly what to do to file a successful claim in Nepal.

Step one: Notify your insurer immediately. Most policies require you to inform the insurer within 24 to 72 hours of the event. You can do this through Beema Dokaan's claim assistance portal, by calling our helpline, or by visiting the insurer's office directly. Early notification is critical — delays can give the insurer grounds to reduce or reject your claim.

Step two: Gather your documents. For a health claim, you'll need: the original hospital bills, discharge summary, doctor's prescription, investigation reports, policy document, and a filled claim form. For a motor claim, you need: FIR copy (if theft or major accident), driving licence, vehicle registration certificate, estimate from an authorised garage, and photographs of the damage. For a life claim, the nominee needs: the original policy bond, death certificate, nominee's identity proof, and completed claim form. Step three: Submit your documents to the insurer's claims department. If you're using Beema Dokaan, our dedicated claims team will guide you through the submission process and follow up on your behalf.

Step four: Track your claim status. Insurers in Nepal are required by the NIA to settle claims within 30 days of receiving all required documents. If your claim isn't settled within this period, you have the right to escalate to the NIA. At Beema Dokaan, we monitor every claim in our system and proactively follow up with insurers on your behalf. Step five: If your claim is rejected, don't panic. Request a written explanation from the insurer, review the reason carefully, and contact us for assistance — many rejections can be successfully appealed.
